Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home has served the families of the Peninsula and surrounding areas since 1909. Originally called the Lawrence B. Wood Funeral Home, we moved in 2000 to the grounds of Parklawn Memorial Park, which opened in 1957, on the corner of North Armistead Avenue and Hampton Center Parkway. We have bilingual employees to help us better serve our Spanish-speaking families.
We are proud to be a member of the Dignity Memorial® network of more than 1,800 funeral, cremation and cemetery service providers. Dignity Memorial providers offer exclusive benefits, including National Transferability of Prearranged Services, the Bereavement Travel Program, the 24-Hour Compassion Helpline® and access to an acclaimed grief management library.
As North America's largest provider of funeral, cremation and cemetery services, the Dignity Memorial brand is your assurance of quality, value, caring service and exceptional customer satisfaction. All of our services are designed to help our families through one of the most personal and challenging stages of life. We understand losing a loved one is an emotional and difficult experience, and we are committed to helping families with compassionate, professional and personal service.
We Honor Veterans program
The Dignity Memorial Network is proud to be the Founding Community Partner of the We Honor Veterans Program.
We are proud to announce the Dignity Memorial network's partnership with the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) on their program with the Department of Veterans Affairs titled We Honor Veterans. Dignity Memorial Funeral Homes and Cemeteries are the first non-hospice partners on the program and are focused on increasing our involvement in providing Veteran Education and continuing to offer the most personalized care to Veterans and their families.
Dignity Memorial locations have always been focused on serving Veterans with respect, integrity and dignity. Through the We Honor Veterans program, Dignity Memorial locations hope to set the bar high so that every Veteran receives care deserving of a hero no matter the service provider they choose.
For more information about the program, please visit www.wehonorveterans.org.
Because Dignity Memorial® providers serve more veterans than any other funeral service provider, our professionals are experts in veterans’ burial benefits provided by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. That means when you choose a Dignity Memorial provider, you can be confident you’ll understand what your VA burial benefits include and how to apply for them. Plus, we take great pride in providing veterans with respectful, dignified funerals and burials befitting of their service.
Knowledge of veterans’ burial benefits and military funeral honors is just one reason so many veterans choose Dignity Memorial providers. Other offerings demonstrating our support of veterans and military personnel include:
- Benefits such as special pricing for members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion may be available
- Programs such as the Dignity Memorial Vietnam Wall® and the Dignity Memorial Homeless Veterans Burial Program
- Educational resources such as the Veterans Planning Guide, which includes the handy guide “10 Important Facts About Your VA Burial Benefits.” and seminars for VFW and American Legion members
With their distinctive expertise, care and compassion, Dignity Memorial providers are the right choice for veterans, active military personnel and their families. In fact, our commitment to veterans is so strong, the Dignity Memorial network is the Founding Community Partner of the We Honor Veterans program, a collaboration of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization and the Department of Veterans Affairs.

When you have a plan with a Dignity Memorial provider and move more than 75 miles away, your pre-arranged funeral services are fully transferable and will be honored by more than 2,000 Dignity Memorial providers in North America.
Bereavement Travel Services
Our nationwide network allows us to partner with global experts who will assist you and your family with time-sensitive travel arrangements. The benefit to you is clear: providing the best available options so that you can be with those who mean so much when it matters most.
Family Financial Protection
Should you pass away before your purchased cemetery property is paid for, our Family Financial Protection ensures that any remaining balance due to the cemetery will be waived and will not be your family’s responsibility. Some restrictions may apply.
Child / Grandchild Protection Plan
If you have a Dignity Memorial plan in place, and should you suffer the loss of a child or grandchild, we will provide complimentary funeral or cremation services up to the same level as your plan through any Dignity Memorial provider nationwide. Restrictions apply. We regret that this plan is not available in Maryland.

In addition, everyone who attends a visitation, chapel or memorial service will have three months access to the Compassion Helpline.
